Search filters above belong to the market-search endpoint. Quotes and OHLCV use the resolved symbol; field availability, intervals and stream access require per-symbol checks. An asset row does not imply that all endpoints support every instrument.

BINANCE:BTCUSDT · crypto pair: Quote, price and streaming examples show a venue-qualified pair. Inspect data age, volume units and the required interval.
AMEX:SPY · ETF: The ETF endpoint uses this symbol as its contract example. Check is_etf, AUM, NAV and returned holdings before displaying a fund profile.

Two ways to find a symbol

Resolve a listing before requesting a price.

Search is for discovery. A catalog is useful when you need structured filters and pagination.

`/api/search/market/{query}`	Name, ticker, ISIN or CUSIP; instrument filter; exchange.	Inspect `data.markets` and preserve the chosen exchange-qualified ID. A qualified query supplies its own exchange filter.
`/api/symbols`	`q`, `exchange`, `market`, `sector`, `type`, `is_primary`.	Use `limit` and `offset`, then read `total` and `has_more`. Page size defaults to 50; maximum 1000.

The two interfaces have different instrument-type vocabularies: search uses values such as crypto and funds, while the catalog includes spot, swap and fund. Do not reuse filter values blindly. See the reference and catalog request example.

Resolve the right symbol

Start with the name.
Keep the identifier.

Search for an instrument and inspect the matching exchange and symbol. Set up your credentials using the quickstart.

Search access can vary by plan. A search match does not guarantee the same entitlement or data availability on every endpoint.

Your integration checklist

Verify the details that matter.

Quote freshness

Check the returned timestamp and session, including market closure behavior. Distinguish a delayed quote from an unavailable one.

Historical coverage

Test the interval and dates you need. Confirm timezone, price adjustment and gaps before using the series.

Streaming behavior

Verify the first actual data message, token expiration and reconnection. A successful handshake does not prove update quality.
